ENFOLDED Exhibition

In this exhibition curated by the British Origami Society, a modular, woven, and concertinaed sculpture crafted from laser-cut elephant hide paper functions as both an intricate physical piece and a wearable robe. The design draws deep inspiration from "The Legend of Hagoromo," centering on the titular "feathered robe" worn by celestial maidens in Japanese mythology. By reimagining this ethereal, flight-granting garment, which famously bridges the mortal and heavenly realms after a compassionate fisherman returns it to a stranded maiden, the artwork beautifully embodies divine grace, transformation, and the enduring connection between earth and sky.
